I bought this off of eBay as working, but the recording volume is incredibly low. Cleaning switch contacts helped a bit, but did not fix it completely. Will update as I progress.

I performed a similar hack to the Magnavox for this Sony Watchman FD-10a. It is pictured running DOOM from the Raspberry Pi 3B next to it (yes I added a CPU cooler to a Raspberry Pi, cry about it). Will update when I get around to designing the shell of the cyberdeck.

The Magnavox Escort 2 was a rebranded version of the Sony Watchman FD-20a. I followed instructions from https://www.experimental-engineering.co.uk/2016/08/23/sony-watchman-fd-20-composite-video-hack/ to perform the hack. The composite signal was sent out of the Arduino Nano using the TVout library.

I took the base from a cheapo Redragon keyboard and added new switches, keycaps, and foam padding. The switches are Gateron Milky Blacks with initially dielectric grease and then Krytox 205g0 lube and Deskeys Switch Films.
